Apple is ramping up its efforts to diversify its manufacturing operations by increasing iPhone production in India. As part of its ‘China Plus One’ strategy, the company aims to reduce its reliance on Chinese factories due to ongoing geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions.
India’s Growing Role in Apple’s Supply Chain
Since 2017, Apple has been gradually shifting production to India. Currently, 15% of iPhones are made in the country, with projections indicating that this figure could reach 25% by 2027.
Despite facing supply chain hurdles and dependency on imported components, Apple remains committed to India’s market, with major investments from Tata Electronics and key supplier Foxconn supporting this transition. The Indian government has also provided incentives to attract more tech giants, further boosting the country’s position as a global manufacturing hub.
